January 11, 2025 - After Hurricane Milton devastated the Sarasota area on October 9, 2024, the S-T-O-P sign at the intersection of Fraser Pine and Arolla Pine Boulevards was found bent from the storm at an almost 90 degree angle and lying near the ground. After 3 months of waiting for Sarasota County to repair it, volunteer residents took the initiative to perform temporary repairs, in order to minimize a perceived danger to the community.

Ironically, approximately a week after the above event, county workers arrived at the location and completed an "official" reinstallation of the sign.
